Team Work

In our team there were three people: Ella, Frida and Johanna. From the beginning of this project the team worked most of the time as a virtual team, because 2/3 people of our team has a full time job. We communicated via email and forum in Moodle.

Frida and Johanna work at Wärtsilä. They got a very good case for our handbook there. So that was a good start of our project. At first we scheduled interviews with Sami Myllyviita, Director of Project Management Office and Jonas Lindholm, Project Manager in Project Management Office. They both work at Wärtsilä Finland Oy Power Plants.

After those interviews we shared information about them and started to sketch theory part. Then we agreed when each part should be finished. Johanna created website for our handbook, where everyone could add and edit content.

Frida and Johanna have worked with these certifications before so they were quite pros in this subject already. Ella who was a novice, at the start, familiarized herself first with the theory and wrote mostly about that. Everyone commented each other’s works and made some suggestions how to improve few things.

During this project we learned e.g. how PMO works in practice and what benefits it provides to the company. Also we learned what advantages certifications give to project managers and what are the most common certifications in Wärtsilä. We also discovered how to create a website and how to manage and finish this kind of project honorable.  

Our team work went according to the plan and the over all process was smooth. Everyone worked really hard and did their own part as promised. The final product was finished at time and we are very proud of our website.
